Selma Blair was born on June 23, 1972 in Southfield, Michigan, where she also grew up. She plays the charming and fun character Zoe Bean on Touchstone's Zoe, Duncan, Jack, and Jane. Of her character, Blair says, "Zoe has everyone's most insecure qualities without being insecure. She obsesses. But she is not afraid of who she is, and has a lot of contradictions." She also easily identifies with her television counterpart..."I had three best friends in high school, and we were inseparable." However, I'm sure they weren't constantly able to coincidentally meet each other at a cafe every day without plan...New York just isn't like that.

Blair graduated from the University of Michigan with a combined BA and BFA in English and fine arts. With aspirations of becoming a fashion photographer, Blair moved to New York City. Instead, Blair found herself studying acting at the Stella Adler Conservatory and Stone Street Theatre. In acting class, an agent signed her, and a week later she debuted in a television commercial.

Meanwhile, Blair's most time-consuming hobby is horseback riding. She really enjoys show jumping. Also, Blair is not going to give up on photography: she owns a wide collection of black- and-white photographs. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
