Cruel Intentions Picture Gallery

     Cruel Intentions, rated R and which opened everywhere March 5, follows the manipulative lives of a teenage stepsister and stepbrother and their bet to seduce virginal characters. It is the newest film adaption of the famous French novel, Les Liasons Dangereuses.

     That stepsister is Kathryn Merteuil (Sarah Michelle Gellar), who resides in Manhattan's uppercrust. Angered when her boyfriend Court Reynolds dumps her for the innocent Cecile (Selma Blair), she places a bet with her stepbrother Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Phillippe). His job is to deflower Cecile and turn her into a tramp ... therefore humiliating Court for choosing her.

     Sebastian is a ruthless playboy that has "had" all the girls in New York City, or as so he thinks. After Kathryn challenges him to take Cecile, he not only agrees to that, he goes further to try the deflower the new headmaster's daugher, the virginal Annette Hargrove, before the school year begins. If Kathryn wins the bet (If Sebastian does not succeed), she receives Sebastian's hot car. If Sebastian wins, then he gets the one girl that had seemed impossible: Kathryn.

     Additional roles in this film include Joshua Jackson's portrayal of the homosexual character Blain Tuttle; Sean Patrick Thomas as Ronald Clifford; Christine Baranski as Cecile's mother, Mrs. Caldwell; Swoosie Kurtz, who appeared in another past adaption of the French novel, Dangerous Liaisons, as Dr. Greenbaum; Louise Fletcher playing "Aunt Helen"; and Eric Mabius portraying Greg McConnell.
