Azura Skye was born in her grandmother's house in Northridge, California, on November 8. She was among the top-ranked students in Brentwood School and plans to go to college soon. Of her character, Jane Cooper, Skye says, "She is extremely insecure about absolutely everything but passes it off as cool. I'm more self-confident than she is. She looks up to Zoe and lives through her a little bit." Skye has very strong family ties in show business. However, she has no relation to actress Ione Skye. But her grandfather, Brad Johnson, starred in the 1950's children's western series, Annie Oakley, as Sheriff Lofty Craig. Her father, on the other hand, is an artist and sculptor who has built delicate, complicated scale models for feature films like Titanic (Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet) and Tomorrow Never Dies (Pierce Brosnan, Michelle Yeoh). At the age of three, Skye began her career by acting in plays and musicals. Later, at the age of 11, she toured throughout Los Angeles performing for high school and grade school audiences. Then she was fortunate enough to get to go to England, where she trained and studied with professional British stage actors. In Alone, Skye made her screen debut, at age 15 in the Showtime TV movie costarring Hume Cronyn, James Earl Jones, and Shelly Duvall. The movie was written by Horton Foote. Since then, she has had guest appearances on Chicago Hope, Touched By an Angel, and Total Security. She also starred in a CBS TV movie called Cab to Canada with Maureen O'Hara. On the big screen, Skye had a costarring role with Warren Beatty and Gary Shandling in Town and Country. In her free time, Skye likes to spend time with her friends, delve into the depths of the TV (I do that all the time), and play her vintage hollow-body electric guitar. She also volunteers whenever she can.
