AOLiveMC2: Let's give a big AOL welcome to Selma Blair!
Selma Blair: Hello, thank you so much!
AOLiveMC2: And here's our first question, Selma: Selma, where are you from? Could you tell us about your background?
Selma Blair: I was born in Detroit, Michigan and I grew up in the Southfield area, with my mom and three older sisters, and I went to boarding school Crambrook Kingswood. Also, I have lots of friends in New York, so that was also like home to me. I went to college back in Michigan and New York.
Question: Is this your first time on AOL live?
Selma Blair: It is my second time on AOL Live.
Question: Selma, if asked, would you do a guest alien on "Star Trek: Voyager"?
Selma Blair: LOL! Sure I would. LOL, that would be fun. That would be a lot of time and makeup though, LOL.
Question: For "Cruel Intentions," what was it like working with Josh Jackson? Was he nice?
Selma Blair: Oh, he is the nicest! actor I have ever met. Nicest boy, period. Unfortunately, I didn't get to do a scene with him, but fortunately since we are both on the WB I will being seeing him, and he's just the nicest boy in the world, and I just loved getting to know him.
Question: How can I get a signed picture of you for my son?
Selma Blair: I guess the best thing to do would be to contact the WB, and I can make sure I sign one through them.
Question: Selma, you are great in "Cruel Intentions"! What was/is your favorite scene? (Loved the movie, by the way!)
Selma Blair: How did you see the movie already? My favorite scene was actually whenever Josh Jackson was on. My favorite scene was when he was caught in bed with Eric Mabius.
Question: Was your dream to act or did it just happen?
Selma Blair: He just cracked me up, Josh Jackson did every time he was on. It was something that I always loved to do, but I just fell into when I moved to New York City. At school, an agent came into acting class. Here is the address for my publicist to get autographed pictures, 9100 Wilshire Blvd, 6th Floor West Tower, Beverly Hills, CA 91212.
Question: Selma, what is the craziest thing that has happened on the set of "Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane"?
Selma Blair: LOL! I had this really bad habit of taking a big wad of gum out of my mouth and putting it into Michael Rosenbaum's coffee tea or popcorn, and he ended up getting a little ticked off after a few of these practical jokes, cause the gum would end up in his mouth, inevitably, and that would upset him. He got me back by when the chef on the set made me my favorite lunch. Michael put Coca-Cola in my favorite burrito, and ruined it and made me very sad. And gum on the receiver on my phone, so that showed me he did it.
AOLiveMC2: LOL! He was clever, wasn't he, Selma?
Selma Blair: It was Breeny the angry wheelchair, put in on my phone receiver and it ended up all in my hair. That was the big laugh. LOL!
AOLiveMC2: LOL for sure.
Question: I was doing some looking around and noticed that www.selmablair.com was under construction and was wondering whether that was going to be your official website?
Selma Blair: Oh, gosh. I don't know anything about it. LOL! I try to stay away in case my feelings are going to get hurt.
Question: Which character do you like playing better, Cecile or Zoe?
Selma Blair: LOL! Cecile was the most fun cause she is such a goof, cause she can't do any wrong, cause everything she does is wrong. Zoe had friends who love her, and Cecile didn't.
AOLiveMC2: And that leads into the next question, Selma: Are you like the character Cecile at all?
Selma Blair: LOL! When I'm very nervous, a little bit. I get very klutzy, that's about it.
Question: What do you consider your best achievement?
Selma Blair: Probably, I guess, moving to New York and moving to California to pursue a dream, and not letting the dream scare me away.
Question: Hey Selma: How old were you when you got your first acting job and what was it for?
Selma Blair: My first acting job was for a commercial for the Theater of Virginia. Pretty small potatoes. I was 24.
Question: Do you have a small crush on any of your co-stars?
Selma Blair: Who wouldn't have a crush on Ryan Phillippe? But as we know, he's already taken by the beautiful Reese Witherspoon.
Question: Do you get naked in Cruel Intentions?
Selma Blair: No! LOL! I do wear pretty goofy underwear, though.
AOLiveMC2: Here is a very positive comment, Selma: You truly radiate with beauty inside and out. I wish you the best of luck with upcoming projects!
Selma Blair: Aw, thank you soooo much! I really appreciate that. Aside: That must be my mother. LOL!
Question: Selma, what are some other movies we can see you in?
Selma Blair: There is a movie called "Girl" with Dominique Swain, she played Lolita, and I don't know when it will come out, but it's really good. And a movie called "Brown's Requiem," and I don't know when that will come out either. So keep your fingers crossed that I will get a job.
AOLiveMC2: A very interesting question here: What is the greatest feature you think is on a guy?
Selma Blair: I guess the little wrinkles they get around their eyes when they smile. That and their ability to give a great big hug. There's too many to list. I don't know. I'm not picky. LOL!
Question: Selma what has been the oddest or most awkward thing you have been asked to do as an actress?
Selma Blair: Hmmm, I had to do a Fila commercial while balancing a 20-pound ball over my head. And running up and down stairs in the middle of a parking lot, while saying my lines about how I loved Fila and stuff. And I was sooo tired from all the exercise that I couldn't even get my lines out, and they thought I was the stupidest girl in the world.
Question: You stated that you got your first acting job at the age of 24. You look so young, if you don't mind me asking, exactly how old are you? You don't look over 19!
Selma Blair: I am actually 26.
Question: Do you have a fan club yet online for your fans?
Selma Blair: I'm sorry that I disappoint everyone that I am not truly 16. Um, no. I guess not. I don't know if I have any fans yet.
AOLiveMC2: LOL, sounds like it to me, that you have fans.
Question: I was wondering, does your personal life ever get in the way of your acting or vice versa?
Selma Blair: LOL! No, the only thing that has been strange is that when I decided to tell the truth about my age, cause a lot of actors don't, I was worried that I would disappoint people who would expect me to really be a teenager. But that was my only worry. But I found that I got really bashed by people, like critics, and I felt that was ridiculous, ‘cause I am an actor, and I felt I could make it believable. But beyond that, everything has gone fine. We'll have to see when I have a big make-out scene and see how my boyfriend feels about that.
Question: How does it feel now that you are in the spotlight?
Selma Blair: It hasn't felt any different really. I haven't felt that I have been in the spotlight yet. I've just been happy to be working, but I imagine that it would feel good.
AOLiveMC2: And one final question, Selma: What actor would you like to work with?
Selma Blair: I would to love to work with Johnny Depp. He is sooo unbelievably talented. I would love to work with Kevin Kline, and there's so many. I can't even start listing them all. Freddie Prinze is pretty cute too.
AOLiveMC2: We've run out of time for this event, Selma. Thanks for joining us here and answering all these great questions from your fans. It looks as if you have several.
Selma Blair: Thank you so much!
AOLiveMC2: And thanks to all you Selma fans who have joined us here. And thanks for all your wonderful questions. Goodnight, everybody!
